Developments in plant breeding and biotechnology have enabled the precise genetic manipulation of fatty acid and oil biosynthesis in oil crops. This is generating a range of innovative new oil products providing improved human nutrition and renewable feedstocks to replace petrochemicals in industrial applications. A number of these innovations are already in or approaching commercial production.
